Look Up! at the National Memorial Arboretum - 1.jpg

Throughout 2024, OPUS have continued our relationship with National Memorial Arboretum by supporting their learning and engagement teams to deliver a range of brilliant events.

Inspired from Rachel Smith’s (Head of Learning & Participation) ambitions to develop the NMA’s summer learning programme, OPUS have been thrilled to collaborate with Lorna Rees of Gobbledegook Theatre to develop and extend the much loved - and highly acclaimed - Cloudscapes project into a durational piece in residency.

Clouds, with their ever-changing forms and colours, offer a mesmerizing and accessible way to connect with nature. "Look Up!" encourages people to pause and engage with the sky, allowing a deeper connection with the world around them. By simply looking up and observing the clouds, individuals can experience a moment of mindfulness and wonder, breaking away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Over 5 weeks, we provided a programme of bespoke sensory play and arts and crafts activities furthering creative learning and complementing the themes of the performance - aiming to enhance awareness and appreciation of the natural beauty that often goes unnoticed.

“The whole team at OPUS have been amazing to collaborate with - so prepared knowledgeable and facilitatory of the vision of the work - I am so proud of what we've created with this very special place”
