Play By Night

As part of Play By Night, Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council's family programme as part of Bonfire Night 2023 celebrations, OPUS were commissioned to design a light-inspired programme which activated the large playground area. 

 

We wanted to create a space where families felt safe to engage in outdoor play, something which rarely happens in the cold, winter months.

 

Using a range of cleverly applied lighting solutions, we designed and delivered an event which lit up the play equipment in the park safely and creatively.

With PLAY as our key programme driver, we bought a range of activities and games multi-generational families could play on and with, together. This included:

• Skipping ropes, with tricksters on hand to help facilitate play

• Hula hoops with circus performers

• Basketball with COB Rockets

• UV bubble machines in the (dry!) splash zone

 

Our costumed Play Captains encouraged people to take part and created a warm welcome down the lit-up slide, and our team of roller skaters from Skate Buddies CIC showed off their skills, creating a pop up dance floor.
