 CBSO - 100th Birthday Celebration

About

OPUS conceived, planned and managed the orchestra’s first ever major live stream performance to celebrate their centenary in a covid-compliant warehouse production facility during the challenges of the pandemic. We were responsible for creative storyboarding including newly commissioned films to accompany the performances, scripting and led on all digital content production and live production elements which saw 5*review in the Times and global audiences.

OPUS provided specialist event planning and producing services, put in place the event concept and design, recruitment of event personnel; Stakeholder Engagement; Event Management; Event Manual and Briefing, Welfare Arrangements - to ensure staff and artists were well managed and cared for, Health and Safety Management - to oversee all safety aspects of working during indoors during COVID-19;  Risk Assessment, Planning. As a matter of course we provided a full and Final Event Safety Report.

On 5th September 2020 the CBSO’s celebrated their  centenary anniversary by live-streaming XX hour special concert for the world to enjoy. This was doubly significant as it was the first time since UK lockdown, in March 2020,  that the CBSO orchestra played live. The event saw a 75 piece orchestra come together led by world renowned conductor Sir Simon Rattle, and featuring other star guests:  Sheku Kanneh-Mason (Cellist), Roopa Panesar (Sitar player), Hannah Kendall (Composer) and Adrian Lester (Presenter).

OPUS were brought on  to deliver this momentous occasion right from the beginning of scoping the programming all the way through to delivery and reporting. No small feat, OPUS recruited a robust team which included JA Productions, Logistical Safety, TV Director Jonathan Haswell to deliver this event in 10 weeks.

The event was delivered successfully in a COVID safe environment and has received a quarter of a million views world-wide.
