Funny Things returned to Wolverhampton during October 2019 for a week-long celebration of rib-tickling stand-up, theatre, workshops, street performance, film and family events. The festival kicked off on Saturday 26th October with free all-ages fun that included a world of storytelling and glitter from the drag queens and kings of Fantabulosa at Wulfrun Shopping Centre; two poetic Pigeon Pals who roamed the streets offering up food and gossip; the Orchestra of Chaos who be brought their unique musical mayhem to the city centre; and the world-famous Dancing Grannies who boogied on down. The Mander Centre hosted Spinsonic circus workshops where people of all-ages learned to juggle, spin plates and hula hoop, and  slapstick shenanigans came courtesy of Wolverhampton’s very own Laurel and Hardy duo.

OPUS worked with the festival producers as due to inclement weather we had to take ALL of the lovely, colourful and funny acts indoors. Thank you to our friends at Mander Centre and Wulfrun Centre - Wolverhampton for being such wonderful hosts and letting us take over their shopping centres to help bring lots of smiling faces to the city or such a wet and damp day. It was a similar case the following weekend on Saturday 2nd November when we similarly had to bring in Nukhut’s Swiron and keep spirits up around Imagineer’s Venture.

The OPUS team are highly experienced, skilled, professional and reliable. They deliver a high quality service and ensure that your event will be a success, with everything considered from health & safety and technical requirements to artist support and wellbeing. They are the first company I would turn to for any outdoor event management. We had extremely wet weather for the street festival we had planned as part of Funny Things 2019 and the team were incredibly flexible and resourceful in organising alternative plans to deliver the event within available indoor spaces, ensuring communication between the artists, their team, local partners and our festival team was consistent throughout the event.
