FOLIO Sutton Coldfield and B’Opera:   Alice and the Library Tree

About

A 40minute interactive performance for babies, toddlers and their grown-ups exploring the wonder of libraries and how they inspire curiosity.

When a storm damages her beloved library tree and the Queen of Hearts orders it to be chopped down Alice must learn to stand up for what she believes in, along with perseverance and some roof repair skills, to get the library re-opened. Will Alice be any match for the White Rabbit and evil Queen of Hearts? Will her Fairy Godmother do what fairy godmothers are supposed to do and actually start helping? This magical interactive production takes you and your little ones on a whistle-stop tour of beautiful music by Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Rossini and Wagner, woven around nursery rhymes and folksong, all sprinkled with musical fairy dust by B’Opera!

Alice and the Library Tree premiered at Sutton Coldfield Library and Concerts in the Park. In 2020 it will tour to Bournville Book Fest and Birmingham Hippodrome.

Both times I’ve worked with OPUS it has been great fun and rewarding, as well as the end result being something I've been really proud of. FOLIO is a tiny organisation with limited experience but Caroline and the team at OPUS have always worked brilliantly with us, giving us wings to help create the sort of event or vision we dreamed of but don't have the skills or knowledge to do by ourselves. OPUS work with flexibility, energy, a great deal of generosity and reassuring and rewarding attention to detail. I can't wait to work with them again!
