About

24 local artists were commissioned by OPUS through Birmingham Design Festival to create digital artwork for the Birmingham 2022 Festival Sites digital screens, around the theme of Freedom in our contemporary global city.

Birmingham Design Festival asked a select group of the city’s established creators and new design voices to respond to our city, its place in the Commonwealth and what Freedom meant to each of them individually. The result were 24 unique digital artworks displayed at the Festival Sites between 28 July - 8 August, as Birmingham took centre stage for the sporting moment of a lifetime.

Birmingham Design is an organisation dedicated to supporting the city’s budding creative community. From organising events to connecting designers with people that matter their mission is to help the West Midlands become the creative powerhouse it deserves to be.
